Mario’s activity focuses on intellectual property counselling and litigation. The judgments issued in his cases concerning macro polymers, integrated circuits, consumer electronics, drugs, copper and steel industrial apparatuses, became milestone decisions.

He is frequently quoted in judgments issued by foreign Courts. In patent cases he conceived the Italian Torpedo, Angora Cat and Blue Horse theories, that have become part of the common vocabulary of all IP professionals worldwide.

Mario is a Visiting Professor of European Patent law at the University of Washington. He is also a member of a number of international and national associations such as ABA (American Bar Association), AIPPI (International Association for IP Protection), LES (Licensing Executive Society), AIPLA (American Intellectual Property Law Association), ATRIP (Association for Teaching and Research in Intellectual Property), IBA (International Bar Association).

Among the founders of the Design Dispute Resolution Authority (Giurì del Design) instituted upon ADI (Association for Industrial Design), Mario was the President and currently is the Vice President of this Authority.
