On 1st June 2023, the new Unified Patent Court will start operating
It will be possible to exclude its jurisdiction by opting out the European patents. But is this convenient? For many, apparently this will be the case, but the debate is still open. Several points need yet to be clarified.
For this reason, we are kindly inviting you to a UPC mock trial, in which an Italian company, represented by a lawyer and a patent attorney, will enforce its European patent with unitary effects against three companies (German, Spanish and Italian) all represented by their respective lawyers and patent attorneys, before three internationally renowned judges: Laurent Manderieux, professor at Bocconi University, Thorsten Bausch, appointed by the President of the EPO as a member of "Standing Advisory Committee”, and Mario Franzosi former visiting professor at University of Washington, Seattle. The trial, which will be held in English, will end with a verdict that will decide the case.
After the trial, while the Judges will be discussing the case in the chambers, the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions, exchange comments and observations.
The event will be in held in English and will be in hybrid mode. Below the details for participation.
